Information on the disposal of old batteries
Instructions for the environmentally friendly disposal of used batteries
These instructions are intended for individuals who use batteries or battery-powered devices and do not wish to resell them in the condition in which they received them (end users):
- Free collection of used batteries
It is prohibited to dispose of batteries with normal household waste. As a consumer, you are required to return used batteries to ensure their proper disposal. These can be handed in at a local collection point or retail store. As a battery supplier, we are also required to accept used batteries, although our obligation is limited to batteries that we offer or have offered as new batteries. You can return such used batteries to us with sufficient postage or hand them in free of charge directly at our shipping center at the address provided in our legal notice.
- Explanation of battery symbols
Batteries bear the symbol of a crossed-out waste container (see below). This mark indicates that batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. If batteries contain more than 0.0005% mercury, more than 0.002% cadmium or more than 0.004% lead by mass, the chemical symbol of the respective hazardous substance is indicated below the waste container symbol: “Cd” for cadmium, “Pb” for lead and “Hg” for mercury.
