Information on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment

We hereby inform private households that use electrical and electronic equipment about important aspects of the environmentally sound disposal and safe handling of end-of-life equipment.

Disposal and marking of end-of-life electrical and electronic equipment in accordance with Annex 3 of the ElektroG

Owners of old electrical and electronic equipment must dispose of it separately from ordinary household waste. This means that it must not end up in regular municipal waste, but must be disposed of through specially established collection and return systems.

If batteries and accumulators can be easily removed and are not permanently built-in, they should be removed before handing the equipment over at a collection point.

These requirements do not apply if end-of-life equipment is sorted out by public waste management authorities for the purpose of preparing it for reuse, within the meaning of Section 14, paragraph 5, sentences 2 and 3 of the ElektroG.

The official marking, which uses the symbol of a crossed-out wheeled bin, indicates that end-of-life equipment does not belong in normal municipal waste.

Options for returning end-of-life equipment

End-of-life equipment can be sent to or handed in directly at the address provided by us, with the transport costs covered by us. Alternatively, many public waste management authorities also offer options for returning equipment to ensure proper disposal. Sometimes reuse of the equipment is also possible. Further information on this is available from the respective collection or return points.
